Weapons Arrest
On 02-01-10 at 00:27 minutes an officer with the Marshalltown Police Dept while on patrol in the 100 blk of S 3rd Ave observed a vehicle turn onto S 3rd Ave from E Linn St. The driver of this vehicle accelerated causing his vehicle to fishtail as it continued heading northbound.
The officer turned around to stop the vehicle and as he began following it he observed that it failed to stop at the red flashing traffic light at N 3rd Ave & E State St. The officer activated his emergency equipment and the driver pulled over in the 200 blk of E Webster St.
As the officer attempted to issue the driver of this vehicle two traffic citations he refused to comply with the officer and sign the citations. Once backup officers arrived the driver was advised he was under arrest and was asked to step out of the vehicle.
The driver continued to resist the officers and was physically removed from his vehicle and handcuffed before being transported to the Marshall County Jail.
Once the driver was removed from the scene his vehicle was inventoried prior to being towed by a local towing company. It was during the inventory of the vehicle contents that officers discovered several weapons and ammunition within accessibility of the driver.
Officers did recover a machete along with the Glock.40 cal Semi Automatic Handgun and a Kel Tek .40 cal rifle that had been altered with a shortened barrel and ammunition for both weapons.
The driver is identified as Paul Edward Langbehn W.M. 33 yrs old of 306 Wallace Ave B Green Mountain, Iowa.
Langbehn is charged with the following charges. 1. Unauthorized Possesion of an Offensive Weapon a Class"D"Felony 2. Two Counts of Carrying Weapons "Aggravated Misdemeanors" 3. Interference w/ Official Acts a "Simple Misdemeanor" 4. Failing to Obey a Flashing Red Stop Signal a "Simple Misdemeanor" 5. No Insurance a "Simple Misdemeanor"Back to Police Department news » |
