Burglary Arrest

Department: Police Department
Date: 02/03/10

On 01-31-10 at 0130 hrs two officers with the Marshalltown Police Dept were checking for suspects in an unrelated burglary case involving a local business. As they drove past a residence in the 400 blk of S 1st St they observed a male subject loading items into a vehicle. As the officers drove past they were closely watched by this subject.

As a result of the recent burglary and the suspicious actions of this male subject the officers stopped to speak with him. As the officers turned around and pulled up behind the vehicle the male subject they had first observed was now gone and a female was seen walking up to the front door of this residence. At this same time they also heard noises coming from behind the residence.

Officers detained the female and  began questioning her. They were then joined by the male subject that they had first noticed by the vehicle. As the officers continued to investigate this incident a second male walked up to them from behind this same residence.

Officers quesioned the three about the large amount of items inside the vehicle. One of the males claimed that itwas his vehicle but not all the property belonged to him or his girlfriend. Due to conflicting stories concerning the unclaimed property the officers collected the property until they could establish who the owners were.

As the officers continued to investigate they discovered an unoccupied residence just around the corner on W Madison St had been burglarized. Evidence gathered at the scene of this burglary by additional officers led to the arrest of two of the individuals that had been detained.

Arrested were Zachary Steven Bolar W.M. 29 yrs old of 1210 1/2 6th St. Nevada, Iowa. and Lisa Marie Jenkins W.F. 35 yrs old also of 1210 1/2 6th St. Nevada, Iowa.

Both Bolar and Jenkins are charged with Burglary 3rd Degree a Class "D" Felony and Possession of Burglary Tools an "Aggravated Misdemeanor".

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are forthcoming.
