Special Traffic Enforcement Program
Officers with the Marshalltown Police Department along with other law enforcement agencies across the state recently completed a week long traffic enforcement project over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The project ran from March 17-20, 2010, and concentrated on drunk drivers and seatbelt violations. The following is a break down of the contacts (arrest, citation, or warning) officers made during this event.
OWI – 5 Seatbelt – 7 Child Restraints – 1 Speed– 19 Stop Sign/Light – 1 NoDriver’s License – 3 Driving Under Suspension – 7 No registration – 11 Open Container – 1 DarkWindows – 2 Equipment Violations – 15 No Insurance – 9 Other Traffic Violation – 6
In addition, there were two felony arrests and one narcotic arrest during the time extra officers were out on patrol. A seat belt survey was conducted prior to the wave and after. The pre-wave survey was 94% as was the post-wave survey. Our goal is 100% seat belt usage, so Click It or Ticket. Wear your seat belt and please don’t drink and drive.
