Region 6 Housing Trust Fund Applications Available

PRESS RELEASEREGION 6 HOUSING TRUST FUND

The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors has certified the Region 6 Housing Trust Fund, a new non-profit corporation organized under IRS rules, to create affordable housing in the region. The Region 6 HTF will have available $322,307 of State and local funds for housing projects for lower income applicants in Hardin, Marshall, Poweshiek, and Tama Counties. Projects can include new construction or preservation of existing affordable housing; transitional housing or homelessness prevention; and rental improvements. The program provides both grants and loans to qualified applicants.  In order to qualify for this program, households need to meet certain eligibility guidelines. Examples of common home improvements through this project include:

·        Roof replacement;

·        Window replacement;

·        Furnace repair or replacement;

·        Siding replacement;

·        Electrical system upgrades;

·        Exterior door replacement;

·        Insulation, and

·        Painting. 

 

Funds are also available for down payment, rental, or deposit assistance.  Applicants for rental or deposit assistance should contact their county general assistance office at:
