Aggravated Assault
On June 16, 2010 at 11:34 pm, officers of the Marshalltown Police Department were called to the area of North 3rd Avenue and Webster Street on the report of an assault. When officers arrived, they found a female, later identified as Molli Anne Bisson, age 43, who had sustained a minor stab wound. The investigation revealed that Bisson along with Scott Jay Truax, age 49, were drinking at a residence rented by Ronnie Joe Thomas, age 51, when a fight between Thomas and Truax began. According to Thomas, he wanted Truax and Bisson to leave the party, but Truax refused, which started the physical fight. During the fight Truax attempted to stab Thomas with a knife, so Thomas retrieved a knife to defend himself. The fight continued until Thomas, Truax and Bisson were outside. According to Thomas, Bisson jumped on him while he was fighting off Truax and he feared that she was stabbing him, or he was about to be stabbed, so he stabbed at Bisson. After Bisson was stabbed, the fight stopped and Thomas fled the area. After completing the investigation and consulting with the Marshall County Attorney’s Office, Truax and Bisson were charged with aggravated assault. Truax was also charged with interference with official acts and trespass. Truax and Bisson were transported to the Marshall County Jail to await their initial appearance. Prior to being transported to jail, Bisson was taken to the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center, where she was treated and released into the custody of officers. Back to Police Department news » |
