The Marshalltown Police Department recently were involved in a special GTSB (Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau) project, Operation Eastern H.E.A.T. This two-day operation ran from August 20-21, 2010, and its focus was on high risk drivers and seat belt violators. Officers concentrated on several areas and used high visibility enforcement in an effort to change people's driving behavior. The following is a  breakdown of contacts (arrest,citation, or warning) made just during the extra enforcement hours.

No Driver's License - 1

Driving Under Suspension - 1             

Open Container - 1

Dark Windows - 6                                

No Seat Belt (Night time) - 5

No Insurance - 5                                  

Other Traffic Violation - 5
