The board has five menbers appointed by the City Council. The members consist of a councilman, a journeyman electrician, a restricted electrician, an electrical contractor, and the City Electrical Inspector who also serves as secretary to the board.

The three appointed electricians server three-year terms. The duties of the Board consist of qualification examinations for all electricians and the revocation or suspension of licenses, if necessary. The Board meets the first Thursday of each month.
