Location and Hours of Operation
The Compost Facility is located at 900 Woodland Street and is operated from approximately April through November, depending on weather. For 2009 the facility is scheduled to open on March 23rd, weather permitting. The facility has three part-time gatekeepers and is open Monday through Saturday. Hours: Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.Hours: Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Permitted Materials
The facility accepts tree debris and yard waste. The Street Division processes the materials into wood chip mulch and compost. There is a charge for all materials going in and going out. Some General Fund money is used to subsidize the facility.
The local landfill does not accept trees, branches, leaves, brush, or yard and garden waste for disposal. These items should be brought to the Compost Facility!
Disposal Fees (approved contractors and vendors)
Yard Wastes must be in City-approved and labeled Kraft-paper bags.

These fees include both the cost of the bag and the disposal fee, and no additional charge will be collected at the facility gate. Licensed commercial haulers will only collect material in these bags.
